One Day Introduction to Permaculture Workshop
Jul 1 @ 9:30 am – 4:30 pm

The Introduction to Permaculture workshop is a fantastic opportunity to get a bite-sized parcel of permaculture knowledge in an accessible and fun format. The day gives you an opportunity to learn about the different aspects of Permaculture, focusing on the general framework of ethics and principles, as well as some design tools.

There will be different exercises during the day, with lots of practical examples of how to apply permaculture to yourself, your house, garden and community. At the end of the day there will be a short design exercise to help pull the days content together.

The course practitioners, Laura and Helen, are experienced permaculture teachers and have run numerous one day courses like this in the past. They both also teach on the
Leeds Permaculture Design Course – a great next step for anyone inspired by this introduction course!

For more information, or to book your place, please look at the LPN website (

The cost for the day is on a sliding scale depending on your income, between £20 and £60.

July Social – Eco-tech and Food Preserving
Jul 5 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

This month we’re going to explore a wide range of techniques and tools that can encompass ecotech solutions toward food.

There are many novel ways to making and preserving goods using low energy techniques – from utilising equipment such as hay boxes, DIY dehydrators, and rocket stoves, to blending and storing your own teas, and creatively processing the harvest by including foods you wouldn’t usually consider.

We’ll have a series of practical demonstrations of these techniques at the social, and everyone will have a chance to learn about and have a go at trying some above ideas.

Doors open at 6.30pm with a prompt start at 6:45pm, all are welcome – children, newbies or regulars!

As usual, we will also have a market stall so feel free to bring along products and wares that you have grown or made yourself to sell.

You can find directions to the venue here:

Lot of love,

August Social – Forest Gardening with Tomas Remiarz
Aug 2 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

We’ll be hearing all about Forest Gardening at our August social, complete with a very special guest speaker in Tomas Remiarz.

Tomas has recently published the excellent ‘Forest Gardening in Practice’, an illustrated practical guide to Forest Gardening for homes, communities, and businesses, and we’ll have the man himself there to talk about how the book came about and everything there is to know about forest gardening.

To add a special slant to the evening the social will be taking place at Bedford Fields Community Garden, a Permaculture forest garden stashed away in the heart of Leeds.

Within Leeds we already have the start of a thriving series of forest gardens, along with numerous skilled practitioners, and this evening will be an opportunity to bask in their collective knowledge and experience!

We’ll be on site at Bedford from 6.30pm and aiming to start the talk at 6.45pm. All are welcome – children, newbies or regulars! – and no prior knowledge of forest gardening is required.

As usual, we will also have a market stall so feel free to bring along products and wares that you have grown or made yourself to sell.

Lot of love,

Josh & the LPN team
